It’s finally that time of year…summer! It’s the perfect time to get rid of all your old junk and liven up your life with new products. One of the best things you can do is buy yourself a brand new smartphone to kick off the summer and be ready before the school year starts. So with that, I’ve decided to round up three of my favorite phones that will fit various types of people. From the hardcore, “I  want the latest and greatest” to the “I just want a phone that works”, there’s bound to be a phone on this list that will fit your needs and desires!

#1 Apple iPhone 6S/6S Plus

This one easily made the list and for the right reasons. The iPhone is a classic smartphone that (almost) anyone can pick up and use. It’s simple. It’s comfortable. And it just works well. There’s nothing too crazy about it. Everything flows seamlessly and there’s no doubt that if you want to get your parents or grandparents an easy to use phone that does what it’s supposed to do, the iPhone 6s is a clear winner! You may not get the same features as its Android counterparts, but it gets the job done and it does it really well. With that in mind, I would also recommend this to teens and young adults. The iPhone is popular among many younger people as well as and it’s because Apple is able to create a closed ecosystem that offers an enjoyable experience without compromising much. Pick this phone if you’re looking for a device with all the bare essentials and then some! It won’t fail you!

#2 HTC 10

HTC has been making quality devices for many years now. They’ve clearly mastered the ability to combine premium materials with a sleek design. In my opinion, they’re basically the Apple of Android. They create devices that are pleasing to the eye and are still easy to use. HTC Sense is also one of the best Android skins out there. It’s simple and not overly intrusive. It doesn’t shove things in your face and only includes features that (for the most part) work well and aren’t half-baked like. The HTC 10 continues the company’s tradition in making a top tier device that will deliver great results for the next two years and then some. Packing a 12 MP camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), HTC BoomSound, 4 GB RAM and a 3000 mAh battery this phone hits a home run in every aspect possible. If you’re looking for an Android phone with excellent build quality and superb performance without bloatware, stop your search and pick up the HTC 10. You won’t be disappointed.

#3 Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge

For many years, Samsung has been the king of Android. They are the ultimate powerhouse and rightfully so. They are constantly pushing out new devices in numerous countries around the world and are successful because they can cover a large scope of areas and income levels. Up until now though, one of the main issues the South Korean company struggled with was making a flagship device with flagship materials. Devices like the S4 and S5 were the top of the line a few years back, but certainly didn’t feel like one because of the poly carbonate material. Of course that allowed for a removable battery, but I think the majority of the people preferred to have a better made device especially since the cloud was where most people store their files anyways. Having accepted the criticism, Samsung then went on to release the Galaxy S6. This changed everything, and not just for Samsung. The poly carbonate days were gone and glass and metal were in, making them a more competitive company to compete against. With the S7, it builds upon the S6’s design but upgrades everything in every department possible. From the Quad HD 5.1 inch display to the IP68 water resistance rating, the Galaxy S7 is a sure fire cream of the crop. This phone is for those who desire to have all the best features and the latest processors crammed into one beautiful package. It has all the newest things and will likely please many smartphone geeks!

Honorable Mentions

The Motorola Droid Turbo and the Apple iPhone SE are both great additions that should most definitely be considered. The Droid Turbo is another high-end Android smartphone with amazing specs. Housing a Quad HD display, a 21 MP camera, water resistance capabilities and a 3900 mAh battery, this phone is the phone to get for those that are power hungry and need a phone that can last a full day on one charge and still have leftover juice. It’s the ultimate battery phone! The only caveat is that it’s exclusive to Verizon customers. Next up is the iPhone SE. While many may skip this and buy the 6s for the larger display, keep in mind that the SE is no joke. Looks can be deceiving and although it may seem like a 5 or 5s, under the hood it packs the same internals as the iPhone 6s minus Force Touch, upgraded front facing camera and Touch ID. The iPhone SE is still a blazing fast phone and it’s perfect for the person who prefers a smaller device without sacrificing performance or build quality!

Wrap-Up

These are my top 3 favorite smartphone picks of June 2016. I hope you guys find one that suits you best and will serve you well for the next couple years. All of these phones are worth the purchase and not a single one will disappoint. Just make sure you really figure out and understand what it is that you want in a phone before making the purchase! Anyways, hope y’all have a great summer!

**Disclaimer. I have not owned any of the aforementioned smartphones on this list. This is just a list based on my knowledge and judgement of what I believe are the best phones to purchase. For further information, please research the phone on the respective company’s website!
